Prof. Mukesh Thakar is currently working as a Professor in Department of Forensic Science, Punjabi University, Patiala. His field of research includes Forensic Biology and Serology, Criminalistics, Fingerprinting and Crime Scene Investigation. He has been HoD of Dept. of Forensic Science at Punjabi University and has also been  a Scientists Incharge at Field/Mobile Laboratory Unit, Bulandshahr District of Forensic Science Laboratory, U.P., Lucknow. He has profound organizational skills which he has shown in organizing various symposiums for faculty and police officials. He has contributed to JOHN WILEY’S ENCYCLOPEDIA of FORENSIC SCIENCE and to the e-PG Pathshala Project and Academic Advisory Committee of the MHRD. He has reviewed the book Indian Civilization and the Science of Fingerprinting by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. He has been regarded as chairperson at various conferences and has contributed to the national level committee of various government examinations. He has guided 17 Ph.D. students under him and has delivered lectures and imparted knowledge to various events of police officials, professionals and students. He is a Life Member of the Indian Academy of Forensic Sciences, Life Member of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicines and Annual Member of the Indian Society of Toxicology. He has numerous papers on his name in journals of repute.
