John Patrick Moloney

Forensic Comparison Software, Australia

Director

In 2008, John Patrick Moloney was employed as a consultant by the Australian Department of Immigration to introduce Fingerprint identification into Immigration Processing. His achievements include the integration of the Australian Immigration Fingerprint database with Australia’s National Fingerprint system NAFIS. He commenced the Australian Immigration Fingerprint Section with several “Fingerprint Experts” recruited from Australia’s Police Agencies. As the manager of the Australian Federal Police Fingerprint Section, he adopted work practices that best equipped the Fingerprint team for the digital environment. This “crime scene to court” approach was to move all casework to the digital environment while maintaining all accreditation quality control requirements. By employing a combination of the most up to date Personal Computer Technology and the Forensic Comparison Software work practices moved from the cluttered desk environment to the paperless comparison environment. He was appointed as Officer in Charge of the Northern Territory of Australia Fingerprint Section in 1998 and his major achievements include the introduction of digital cameras for the capture of latent fingerprints at crime scenes and the introduction of Livescan for the capture of offender fingerprints.
