Cyber Awareness Talk
Today, most of us have accepted online
transaction methods to withdraw money from our bank account, sending
money to the family living in another city or another country, shopping, paying
admission fee and bills etc. Amid the
global pandemic, we’ve experienced the importance of digital connection in our
everyday life. But what if a cyber-attack takes the bank down and a payment
doesn’t go through? As we become
gradually dependent on digital financial services, the number of cyber-attacks
has also increased rapidly and now posing a significant risk to the stability
of the whole financial sector. These attacks are growing in number, scope, and
complexity, making it challenging to envisage the overall impact. Today, Cyber-attacks are affecting all
segments of life. It was seen during the global WannaCrypt ransomware attacks
in May 2017 which had affected about 200,000 computers in more than 150
countries, including of those found in various hospitals, conveniences,
railways, telecommunications and vehicle companies; in addition to the Petya
Ransomware which in June 2017 which had affected computers within 64 countries
and many more. The financial sectors are being the largest target of the
attacker, so the motive behind this awareness talk is to bring people’s
acquaintance with emerging risk of cybercrime in financial sectors. So that
they can safeguard their selves before the miss happening occurs. Let’s join
this talk to know better and to help other about such important issue.
